My son was inpatient at Never Alone for 45 days. In that time, he went not only through drug recovery but mental health help as well. He participated in individual and group therapies. He is home and thriving! I recommend Never Alone to anyone who just doesn’t know what else to do with a child who is struggling.

My son was here for over a month with an addiction problem. They have done such a great job with him. Not only is he not using anymore, I can actually trust him again. The staff and counseling here are unbelievable. Thank you so much for helping not only him but our family!

Never Alone in NY gave our son the support and structure he desperately needed. The staff truly cared and kept us involved every step of the way. We’ve seen incredible growth in him—he’s sober, motivated, and hopeful about the future. We’re so thankful for everything this program has done for our family.

My 16 year old daughter was at Never Alone for over a month and did great! The entire staff from program director to chef were wonderful and made my daughter’s stay comfortable. This was not our first stop on her journey, however this was her first rehab for drug / substance use. When asked if it was beneficial, she has not hesitated to say YES. She left with better tools and confidence to work her recovery.
If your son or daughter is using drugs and it’s affecting their mood, school, relationships, or safety — you’re not overreacting. Teens using drugs often shows up as lying, sneaking out, missing school, or dramatic changes in behavior or hobbies. If you’ve tried setting limits, getting counseling, or talking things through — and the problems continue — adolescent drug rehab or a teen addiction treatment center is often the best next step. You never have to wait for things to get worse!
It’s normal for teens to be resistant at first. The clinical team is trained to help them lower their guard and avoid power struggles. Often, the most resistant teens become the ones who grow the most once they feel safe and understood.
Yes, in most states (including New York), if your child is under 18, you can admit them to a treatment program even if they don’t agree. This is hard — but sometimes necessary. Your child might be angry at first, but safety comes before approval. Once treatment begins, your child will start to see everything with better perspective.
Yes. Treatment at our drug rehab for teens includes the whole family, because the addiction is affecting everyone. Drug abuse in teens doesn’t just impact the individual — it affects parents, siblings, and the entire home environment. You’ll get support to work through the anger, confusion, and hurt that substance use can leave behind. Family therapy helps you set boundaries, rebuild trust, and start having healthier, more honest conversations. It takes time, but building trust and connection is possible.
You don’t have to share every detail. Keep it simple: “He’s struggling right now, and we found a camp that can help.” Siblings may feel scared or confused — reassure them that this isn’t their fault, and that you’re doing everything you can to help their brother or sister get better. Be honest, but age-appropriate.
Here are four signs a teenager may have a drinking problem, based on behavioral, emotional, and physical indicators of the CDC and NIAAA (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism):
It’s not your fault. Even in good, loving homes, teens end up in deep pain and make dangerous choices. What matters now isn’t what you could’ve done differently — but what you’re doing today. Helping your child get treatment is taking responsibility. You’re showing up. That’s not failure — that’s love.
